About

What's up everyone! I'm Roger, and I'm the guy behind TabCore.
My YouTube journey started way back in 09, with my first guitar cover going live on January 8, 2009.
I spent years making 'normal' guitar and vocal covers, but things changed in 2020 when I uploaded my first cover with on-screen tabs – CKY's "Flesh Into Gear." I instantly fell in love with figuring out and covering CKY's music, and that's how TabCore was born. As a CKY fan since 2001, I'm dedicated to figuring out every single song, one by one.
I launched this website in March 2024, and it's been incredible connecting with so many of you! Check out the FAQ below for more info.

FAQ

/ɛfeɪˈkjuː/
noun: FAQ; plural noun: FAQs
A list of questions and answers relating to a particular subject, especially one giving basic information for users of a website.

Why should I become a member?

Many of my recent YouTube covers include live tabs on screen, offering you a free and easy way to learn the songs.

By becoming a member, you directly support TabCore and gain access to exclusive bonus content and benefits, which vary depending on the chosen tier. Check the different tiers here.

How often is new content added?

On YouTube, I release a new cover approximately every 5-6 weeks. But here on TabCore, members enjoy early access to those covers and exclusive bonus content, the latter posted most of the time at least weekly, sometimes multiple times a week. These include but are not limited to:

  • extra footage and behind the scenes content
  • exclusive video series for members
  • Access to tutorial & lesson videos
  • your name in my covers/videos as a thank you 🙏 *𝙞𝙣 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥
  • tabs for my guitar covers in GP and PDF files (GP5 on request) 📄 *𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙧𝙖

What guitar tuning are you in?

Since most viewers are likely here for my CKY and 96BB covers, it's worth noting that almost all CKY and 96BB songs are in D Standard (one full step down). The only exception I'm aware of is '96 Quite Bitter Beings', which uses a half-step down tuning. I always include the tuning in the video description (and usually on screen).

What gear do you use?

You'll find a list of all the gear I use in every YouTube video's description. If you guys are interested in a gear talk video, let me know!

How do you get that classic CKY sound?

I get asked this so often haha! The guys in CKY have always used and still use the Boss OC-2 pedal. I use my Axe-Fx II and made a preset that comes really close to that classic sound in my opinion. You can find and buy my CKY Axe-Fx preset right here.

Can I request a song to be tabbed?

I don't usually take individual requests, but I regularly run polls on my YouTube channel and TabCore members page with four song options. You can vote for your favorite, and the winner will be the song I cover next and of course make tabs for!

Do you offer private online lessons?

Yes, I offer private online lessons! Feel free to click here for more details!

Do you have a Discord?

I've started a TabCore Discord server, but it's not quite ready yet. If there's enough demand, I'll be happy to open it up. Let me know!

What got you into playing guitar?

Hearing Rage Against the Machine around age 7 or 8 sparked my interest. Then I discovered a ton of punk, rock, and metal through video game soundtracks—like CKY's "96 Quite Bitter Beings" in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and In Flames' "Embody the Invisible" in Tony Hawk's Underground. In Flames became my favorite band, and their melodic sound led me to discover Children of Bodom and Lamb of God. Ultimately, Children of Bodom's lead guitarist and vocalist, Alexi Laiho, inspired me to pick up the guitar.

I still listen to these bands, but my favorites have changed!

What is your favorite band?

While I love CKY and they're a huge influence, they're not actually my absolute favorite. To be honest, I'm more of a metal guy at heart, especially into metalcore, deathcore, djent, technical metal, melodic death metal and some newer death metal.

Some of my favorite bands include:

  • I, The Breather
  • All Shall Perish
  • Veil of Maya (specifically their older albums up to Eclipse – I'm not as keen on their newer material)
  • After The Burial
  • Born Of Osiris
  • Intervals
  • Currents
  • Unprocessed
  • Knocked Loose
  • Periphery

And I'm probably forgetting a lot of bands, haha!

But if I have to pick one favorite band it has to be August Burns Red. I've been listening to them since they released Meddler as a single in 2009 and I've been a fan ever since. They never disappoint and the guys in the band are the nicest dudes in a band I've ever met.

I also listen to a lot of other genres of music including jazz, blues, Lo-Fi and synthwave.

Favorite pizza?

I'm a big fan of pepperoni with loads of cheese. But honestly, any pizza loaded with meat and cheese is a winner for me 🤤
